Staunton hOUR Economy

Trade time • Build trust • Keep value local

Staunton hOUR Economy

A neighbor-to-neighbor time bank (pilot build)

Trade time, not dollars.
Build a kinder Staunton one hOUR at a time.

New here? A time bank is simple: when you help someone, you earn hOURs (typically 60 minutes of time/effort). You can spend hOURs later when you need help: rides, repairs, tutoring, gardening, tech setup, pet sitting, and more.

We’re revitalizing Staunton’s time bank in a low-tech, low-friction way: email + meetups (not another app). This site is the public hub for volunteer opportunities, a directory map, and a lightweight weekly exchange.

Feel free to email: info@houreconomy.org with any questions!

What happens after you email us?

We’ll add you to the list, follow up with a simple “offer/need” template, and invite you to the next meetup. The site is refreshed weekly (Sunday evenings) so listings stay current and low-pressure.

How it works

1) Offer a skill

Tell us what you can do (and what you don’t do). Keep it simple. Email us at: info@houreconomy.org

2) Earn hOURs

When you help someone, you earn hOUR credit (typically 60 minutes).

3) Spend hOURs

Use hOURs to thank others in the network when they help you.

4) Build trust

Meetups add real-world context. Start small. One good exchange builds momentum.

Want to be on the map?

Email us (info@houreconomy.org) and we’ll add your business or group. Individuals can also request a weekly listing below.

Privacy note

Use general locations (neighborhood/area) unless you explicitly want your address public.

Join / Get listed

We’re building this in public. Right now the system is manual (email + meetups) while we gather a pilot cohort, map partners, and finalize token options. The goal is to be ready to go live in Q2 2026.

Email us at info@houreconomy.org with: your name + neighborhood, what you can offer (or what you need), and whether you’re an individual, group, or business. Businesses can also mention whether they’d consider accepting a limited number of hOURs per month during the pilot.

Starter rules

  • Be clear about boundaries and availability.
  • Start small. One successful exchange builds momentum.
  • Default to public listings being non-sensitive.
  • Meetups are for trust-building, not perfection.
  • Disputes: pause, talk, and steward as needed.
Direction

Today: website + map + calendar + simple weekly listings. Later: physical tokens, lightweight stewardship, and deeper resilience infrastructure.
